Changes in the lactogenic and stress hormone contents in the blood of pregnant women

Abstract  The concentrations of prolactin, growth hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, insulin, placental lactogen, cortisol, adrenaline, and noradrenaline in the blood plasma of pregnant women were determined by spectrofluorometric and radioimmunological methods. It was shown that the levels of these hormones increased during pregnancy. It is concluded that the adaptive reserves of pregnant women must be increased for the normal function of the mammary glands after childbirth.
